Last but not least!! This is our last lesson about classroom language.
This lesson four is about "speaking with support". If we want our children to speak in English, the first thing we have to do is give them language they will use continuosly in class. They will repeat it so many times that in the end, they will have learn it and used it a lot.
We can't pretend our students to know on their own what is the language they have to use in the classroom, so we have to give it to them. Because of this, I post here some language we can use to share with our students the structures they have to use.
1. WHAT LEARNERS NEED TO SAY AND ASK
Until the children are confident with their English they won't use it themselves, so it is our job to elicit from them the structures they know.
This are examples of sentences or structures we can use to talk with the children and make them talk.
2. HOW LOUD?
We can teach the children that we have to use different voices in different situations. It will also be funny for them to say words and sentences with normal voices, then shouting, then whispering...
3. FIVE WAYS OF ELICITING LANGUAGE
As I've said before, children won't speak English if they don't feel confident so we have to elicit the language from them.
Here you have five different ways that will be useful to make them talk.
4. INSTRUCTIONS FOR GAMES
Games are the perfect activities for the children to use the language they learn. We as teachers have to give clear instructions so they understand what they have to do.
Also we have to use the correct language and try to elicit language from them.
Hope you liked it! 馃槈

3. LISTEN AND MAKE
1, 2, 3... Thiiiird lesson!!
This lesson 3 is about "listen and make". Similar to "listen and do", but this time, after giving the instructions the students are supposed to develop an activity where they have to make something manual, e.g. handicrafts.
As the children will have to make something challenging, we need to use the correct language to explain the steps and also to give them examples of what they will have to do.
1. EXPLAINING AND DEMONSTRATING/ ASKING FOR HELPERS AND GIVING THINGS OUT
In this "listen and make" activities the explanation of the steps to follow and the examples we give are essential for the children to understand the task.
Here you have some examples of the language we can use.
2. PHRASES DESCRIBING POSSITION
If we want the children to make a drawing, for example, we have to give the exact and clear instructions for where do we want them to draw each element.
I leave you some examples of the language we can use to describe possition and ask who wants a turn, there you go!

When we are doing a challenging task, we need the students to know exactly what they have to do and it will be easier for them if we give them an example of the task.

2. LISTEN AND DO
Hi, hi, hi!! Second lesson of classroom language.
This time the lesson is about "listen and do". This type of listen and do activities are the ones where the children first listen for instructions and then they do actions.
Children really love this type of activities because they are physically involved and they aren't listening to the teacher all the time.
Here I post some language that you can use to lead the lesson when you are doing this "listen and do" activities.
1. GIVING INSTRUCTIONS
The "listen and do" activities have, of course, a part of listening and it usually is about giving instructions. I show some examples of this language here.
2. BEING GOOD - A POSITIVE APPROACH TO DISCIPLINE
As the children will be totally involved mental and physically in the lesson, we need to have a good control of their discipline, so they don't go wild. But we have to do this control in a good way, being positive with the children and don't telling them off all the time.
Here you have some examples of the language you can use.
3. RECALLING ROUTINES: WHAT DO WE DO WHEN...
It is really useful if we make a routine with the children, so they know specifically what do they have to do each time that we do a different activity.
The language we can use to recall this routines could be:
4. TURN - GIVING
If we want our class to have a good organization, it is essential to use the correct language to give turns to talk or do activities.
5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRUE/FALSE ACTIVITIES
It is important that the children know clearly what they have to do in each of the options they have, so they answer what they want to answer.
Here I leave some examples of the language we can use to give clear instructions.

1. WAYS OF STARTING, ORGANIZING AND ENDING LESSONS
In this part of the blog I'm going to share with you some language that we can use in our lessons to control the children and lead the class as good as possible.
I really hope you find this useful and you can use it in your lessons!
The first lesson is about language for starting, organizing and ending lessons.
1. WAYS OF STARTING LESSONS

2. ORGANIZING THE CLASSROOM
In this part I post some examples of language for the organization of the classroom.
3. ENDING THE LESSON
To end the lesson I give you here some examples of language you can use with your students.
I really hope you find this useful and you can use it in your lessons!
