HI READERS!!

Hello wonderful teachers (and normal people) 馃槈!!

I'm Mar铆a and I'm currently finishing my university studies of Primary education. I chose to develop my education studies in English because I want to be an English teacher (I hope that a good one!!)

In this blog I will share with you some of the work I have done during my studies. I hope this pieces of work are useful for you and maybe you can take some ideas for your English lessons.

If you keep going down in this home page you will find short explanations for what you are going to find in each section of the blog and they have a direct link to it.
I will also leave in the right column some interesting websites that I like. They have a lot of resources: posters, flashcards, games...

Enjoy!! 馃槂

PHONICS

In this section of the blog I will post some examples of teaching sequences of phonics.
The activities are all based on the book "Jolly Phonics" written by Sue Lloyd and Sara Wernham. The book divides the different sounds in 7 groups and I will share one teaching sequence for each group.

PHONEMIC AWARENESS

This part of the blog will show you different games in order to develop some phonemic awareness in the students.
It is divided in 9 levels and there will be one game for each level.
The main resouce I used to develop this games was the "Phonological Awareness Package" compiled by Jane Sheils and Yvonne Sawyers.

GRAMMAR

In this section of the blog I will post examples of activities and games that will be useful to teach some grammar content to our children in a simple and funny way.
All the games and activities are taken from the book "The Grammar Handbook 1" written by Sara Wernham and Sue Lloyd. I have developed all of them myself in order to make them more personal.

CLASSROOM LANGUAGE

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

This section is about some materials that we can use in our classroom to develop the social skills of our children: feelings, respect, healthy habits...
I will share with you posters and flashcards that will be useful for the development of this skills if we display them in our classrooms and our students can see them everyday and also if we review them many times with our children.

6. SHOWING RESPECT

The last topic is about "Showing respect".

1. RESPECT FOR PEOPLE

We have to teach the children that respect is the basis for a good relationship with people. We have to treat people in the same way we want them to treat us and this is something that our students have to keep in mind forever.

2. RESPECT FOR THE ENVIROMENT

As well as we have to respect the people, we have to respect the enviroment because is where we live and if we keep damaging it, we will destroy it.

3. RESPECT FOR THINGS

We have to respect and treat things well too, because the objects in class are for everyone and we have to preserve them so other children can use them later.

5. SHARING AND PARTICIPATING

"Sharing and participating" is the fifth topic!!

1. PARTICIPATING

The students have to be confident to participate in class and with some awards and flashcards we can encourage them to do it.

2. SHARING

The children should learn that sharing is important to have good relationship with their classmates. Everything in class is for everyone and we have to be kind with each other.

4. PERSONAL HYGIENE AND HEALTHY HABITS

Hi theeeere!!

This fourth topic is about "Personal hygiene and healthy habits". Of course it is not necessary that I say that have good hygiene and healthy habits it's something really important, so we have to teach the children how to have them.

1. HEALTHY FOOD

2. HYGIENE

3. FEELINGS

1, 2, 3... Third topic!!

This one is about "Feelings". It is important that the children know how to express their feelings so other people know how to deal with them and also it's important that they know how to guess what is a person feeling.

1. FLASHCARDS

With these flashcards the students will learn how to say the different feelings in English.

2. HELP/OK FLASHCARDS

If they don't know exactly how to say that they need help, we can give them these flashcards and tell them to put them up if they need help.

2. CLASS ROUTINES

Heeeeello!!

This second topic is about "Class routines". Here I leave some posters of routines inside the class and outside it.

We can display this posters in the classroom, but it is not enough. We have to remind everyday and then every week the children the routines for them to learn them.

1. RULES IN CLASS

2. RULES OUT OF THE CLASS

1. BEHAVIOUR PATTERNS

Hey there!!

In this part of the blog I'm going to share with you some materials that you can use to develop some social skills in your students.
I hope this materials will be useful for you!! 馃槈

The first topic that I'm going to adress is "Behaviour patterns"

1. FLASHCARDS AND POSTERS

We can use this flashcards to teach the chidren how to behave in class.
We may display the posters in the class so the students see them everyday and can remember them.

2. CHARTS

We can use these charts to encourage the children to behave well.

3. AWARDS

It's well known that the children love receiving awards, so they will help us to guarantee the good behaviour.
